One Murder Instead of a Death

That was the title of a four-page play I wrote when I was about 11. I guess I’ve always wanted to be a writer. It’s a weird title and I have no idea how or why I thought of it. I wish I could find the play. Hmm. I wonder if it’s in a box somewhere in my old house…

The title came to mind recently when I found out about an incident very, very near my apartment. I was out of town and so was my next door neighbor, but he was told by another neighbor that a body had been discovered on the rocks at the end of our street. OMG! The neighbor who witnessed the response to the “incident” has a small child and she said she was home with the baby when she heard helicopters. When she went out onto her balcony, she said there were at least 50 policemen – of all stripes – national police, local police, and the Mossos d’Escuadra (the Catalan police units). Supposedly, a man who was nearby taking photos with a a large lens camera, spotted a body with white hair on the rocks. Authorities were summoned!

I’ve searched and searched the internet to try to find a mention of the incident, but I’ve found nothing. There seem to be only two possible explanations: (1) there was no body – maybe it was a mop or a sex doll or something that resembled a human; or (2) it’s a cover-up. We know who lives just yards away – the Russian!

I don’t know if I’ll ever find out. But I hope it’s not a personal warning message to me!

I recently discovered a new potato chip. They’re not potato chips, but they do have the “you can’t eat just one” quality of a potato chip. They are something that I never thought would interest me, but I now have a new favorite snack! They’re perfect with a cold beer sitting in a café near the sea!! They are sonsos – the Catalan name for sand eels. Eels! Yum.

I’ve been slightly laid up lately with a sore neck, which at first was just bothersome and then became troublesome! I’ve had massages, taken ibuprofen, and I’ve even joined a gym that has a spa pool that blasts warm-ish water with force in various types of streaming cascades. Then I tried something else I never thought I’d try – acupuncture! I don’t know if it is a coincidence of timing that the pain was relieved, but so far so good! Onward…
